Kid Writers (9-12)

Days are set up around mornings of discussion and visual exploration of what makes a good story, focusing on various elements of narrative. Daily projects then put into practice what the kids have been learning about as they flex their creative muscles.

Of course every author needs their nutrition! Between 11:30-12:30 everyday we’ll break for lunch and play. Nothing stirs up ideas like moving your body around outside. During this time we have all sorts of games on hand to get out extra energy.

Afternoons usually involve a field trip—to Eben G. Fine park, Pearl Street, or the public library, and other nearby places. During this time, kids can continue working on their projects. We wind down with quiet time to work, ask questions, brainstorm together, etc.

Our program runs throughout the summer, from June to August (see Camp Dates below). Each individual week is one full camp experience. However, you are welcome to enroll your child in multiple weeks!

Daily, our program runs from 9am—2:30pm. After-care is available from 2:30pm—5:30pm. Please be prepared to drop your child off and pick them up from the designated location each day.
Materials:
Please make sure your child is prepared for outdoor activity with sunscreen, hat, and water. We also ask that campers also come with one spiral notebook, pen or pencil, and a lunch.
